As one of two Signature-class ships, MS Nieuw Amsterdam celebrates the glamour and history of New York City (formerly called Nieuw Amsterdam). This ship is the forth ship to bear this name.
The ship carries over $3 million dollars worth of art, ranging from antiques to traditional Dutch masters. Passengers can use an audio-tour to walk around the ship and learn about the pieces on display.
The ship spends most of the summer seasons cruising in Alaska, visiting ports such as Skagway, Whittier and Ketchikan. In the winter the ship moves via the Panama Canal to Fort Lauderdale and performs roundtrip cruises to the Caribbean Islands.
