Jewel of the Seas is the last of the four sisters in the Royal Caribbean Radiance Class, she is the same in respect of performance and size as her sisters, but each of the sister ships do take on their own character and charm, Jewel of the Seas does not disappoint. She is just as her name suggests a jewel. She takes on many of the glass panel features from Radiance plus many of the dark wood interiors and golden finishes from Brilliance.
A post panamax vessel, she is able to navigate the Panama Canal with ease, although her regular voyages take her to some unique foreign destinations such as Scandinavia and Russia, the majestic Fjords of Iceland and the picturesque waters of Alaska. She then ventures to warmer climates such as the Caribbean and Mexico during the winter season.
Jewel of the Seas has a sleek modern and stylish build, with bright and open exterior spaces perfect for sightseeing cruises. Her interior décor is elegant and mixed with both traditional and contemporary furnishings. Jewel of the Seas comes with many signature Royal Caribbean features on-board.
With her enticing itinerary of cruises, as a guest you’ll spend a good portion of your cruise watching the world go by, a good place to do this is the Seaview Café. This classic deli and bar serves food at any time of the day and makes the perfect place to watch the world go by.
Making an appearance on every Royal Caribbean ship is the Windjammer Café, this is buffet style restaurant offers guests a plethora of dishes with a buffet style service, eat as much or as little as you like or simply sit and people watch, or gaze out of one of the many windows at the world passing you by.
The main dining experience on-board Jewel of the Seas is the decadent Tides Restaurant. This two tier restaurant is able to accommodate a large number of guests per sitting, yet still radiate and open and spacious feel. The food served in Tides is of a high standard and served by attentive staff, be certain to check out the chef specials which change each and every day.
Portofino is a formal, reservation only Italian style restaurant, serving some classic Italian dishes and wines in a chic up market style. As well as Portofino another Royal Caribbean signature restaurant is Chops Grille, quite an intimate venue offering a large variety of steaks, sides and other grilled meats, Chops Grille is worth booking a reservation early to avoid disappointment.
The evening entertainment on-board Jewel of the Seas caters for all tastes, it has been noted in some guests experiences that the evening-shows hosted at the Coral Theatre are some of the best to be seen while taking a cruise. On-board stage performances are a feature that many ships in and outside of the Royal Caribbean brand have been lacking, yet performances aboard Jewel of the Seas have been described as consistently brilliant and original.
Other notable places to visit during the evening are the Schooner Bar, a nautically themed elegant bar serving a varied range of wines and cocktails. It’s a good place to meet up with friends or fellow guests if you are in your smart clothes, the décor of the Schooner bar seems to lend itself to formal very well, of course you can visit Schooner Bar wearing informal clothing too! The Champagne bar is another elegant place to meet if you are dressed in your finest attire.
As with her sister ships Jewel of the Seas comes fitted with all the active equipment you’ll need whilst cruising to burn off those extra calories and get your heart racing. The gymnasium has state of the art running and rowing machines as well as fitness instructors at hand to give you expert advice on a fitness regime that may best suit you. Afterwards take a trip to the Solarium and relax by the adult only poolside or take a dip in one of the three Jacuzzi’s, there’s a small but perfect place to grab a slice or two of pizza from here, well it is a cruise, indulgence is a priority.
