Britannia is the latest flagship in the P&O Cruises fleet. She is based on the new Princess Cruises’ Royal-class design.
She has 13 restaurants with 13 bars aboard and a first at sea is The Cookery Club, a studio space with designated workstations for passengers to learn how to cook. Several voyages each year include celebrity chefs, including James Martin, Mary Berry and Pierre Koffman amongst others. Celebrity patisserie owner Eric Lanlard will also have his own patisserie aboard and teach some classes.
Due to the new design of the ship, this is the first P&O Cruises ship that all the outside cabins will have full balconies (usually they just have portholes)
With Britannia, P&O Cruises also marked the return of the ever-popular Crow’s Nest bar – which was sadly omitted from sisters Azura and Ventura. The Crow’s Nest bar serves over 20 types of gin and 70 varieties of British beers and is based on the top deck at the very front of the ship. Commanding endless views over the ocean on a sea-day.
One of the highlights on Britannia is her three deck high atrium with stunning Star Burst artwork in the centre. A cross between a chandelier and a sculpture, the piece stretches from floor to the three deck high ceiling. Constantly lit and twinkling, the artwork brings real attention to the vast atrium and is the perfect place for events or to meet people before heading to one of the bars or ashore.
The design of the ship closely resembles a modern hotel, which is change even for modern cruise ships. Sleek, pastel interiors take away that “cruise ship” feel and make staterooms seem even more spacious then they already are.
